I need to get back into the habit of logging things now that I've been promoted and put in charge of a squadron. Aside from the numerous tech logs I filed as a wrench monkey, which amounted to "Installed Deuterium Regulator part no:520-34SX in Quartz Ten" which would be pretty dry reading, I haven't had to write one of these since I joined Starfleet.
Quartz Squadron is fully prepared for the upcoming mission to the Gamma Quadrant. The last of the changes we needed to go through to meet Falcon's requirements for MSG-333 was finished off last night. MSS finally supplied the Defiant with most of our warhead needs, though to be honest the one they couldn't supply us with, we shouldn't be needing unless things go really sour.
I can't say that I'm not concerned about the upcoming mission. It's been many years since I last was in command of a squadron, and that was a civilian outfit and not Starfleet. While being assigned to a ship and being stuck with limited resources isn't new to me, Starfleet's and MCAS' policies and procedures are probably going to be my biggest enemy on this mission.
I still want to talk to Falcon about the renaming of Quartz and Agate Squadrons now that we're part of a different Space Group than the one(s) that had originally named us. Unfortunately, no new name has jumped immediately to mind, although I've asked my pilots to consider ideas. Same goes for mottos and even new logos, but all that can be worked out over some drinks in the ready room.
The last thing, and this is more of a reminder to myself, is that we need to finalize a training schedule for the squadron. Including small arms, hand to hand, and pilot training. We'll be having alot of free time on our hands at various points of the mission, if my experience from the civilian days is going to be any guide.
End log entry.
