Deep Space 9 is attacked by multiple ships from a rising force in the Alpha Quadrant known as "The Coalition." Heavily-modified ships are sent on direct kamikaze attacks, taking out the station's shields with the first hit and one of the docking pylons with the next. Starfleet and the Bajoran Defense Force Navy move to respond as quickly as they can, but they succumb to the sudden third attack in the same fashion, disabling most of the ships nearby when the attacker detonates their warp core to do maximum damage.
When the dust settles, a warning message is sent from what seems to be the lead Coalition vessel, the CCV Dragon, that more attacks are to come and soon Bajor's grip over the Wormhole will come to an end...
