Engineering Officer's Log - incident report: Stardate 74541.94
While ensuring that all systems were fully functional aboard the USS Shutsugun, a distress call from the CCV Megalord was under assault from the civilian vessel CCV Werewolf in the vicinity of Deep Space Nine. At the time, Lieutenant Stish was the ranking officer on the Bridge. A course to Deep Space Nine was initiated and, upon our arrival, the USS Astraeus had arrived. The Werewolf locked weapons on the Astraeus and fired upon them, causing minor damage. The USS Shutsugun then went into battlestations, at which time weapons were locked on the CCV Werewolf and fired.
It appeared that our proximity to the Werewolf was too great for the type of weapons used, as we sustained massive damage to the Hull and Armor. Communications were incapacitated entirely, and the shields failed due to the overwhelming incoming damage. It seems that the USS Shutsugun fired Tri-Cobalt weapons, and the resulting backlash amplified any damage we took from the Werewolf.
At the point where we were rendered incapacitated, the CCV Werewolf departed the area with the Astraeus in pursuit. It was then I began initiating repairs on the communications systems, rerouting the power from internal communications relays and amplifying the signal using the forward field generator, which gave us temporary use of subspace frequencies to report our position and condition. Commander Adamson initiated critical hull repairs using the workbees while I coordinated the repair teams to triage the most damaged vital systems.
Repairs were initiated and completed as quickly as possible in the event that the CCV Werewolf returned, however, it did not, and we were able to maintain our position.
Once I returned to the Bridge, it appeared that another incident had occured: The CCV Savoy was detected and requested to decloak, upon which time it was discovered that an individual by the name of former Commander Milton Madison was holding Governor L'vralus hostage with a weapon drawn, insisting that he was a Breen sympathizer. After negotiations by Captain Amadeus were successful, the man stood down and was beamed to the USS Shutsugun into the Brig. It appears by all calculations that this individual has suffered some sort of temporal displacement, as he claims to have graduated the Academy in 2337. Governor L'vralus was familiar with the individual, and brought on board to assist in the investigation.
