Collecting my winnings

"Computer, begin recording."

The previous was said off screen, as Larel appears with a glass in her hand. She sets it down, then takes a seat.

"Stardate 74993.5? .6? Yeah. So, I learned something last night. It helps to know the right people. I mean, I'm sure everyone knows this, buuut... I can't believe Ken saved us from The Admirals. Not that I don't like them, the ones I've not had the pleasure of meeting sure seem nice, but the debates were on, and I'd already missed that gala because of that whole borg thing.

"Which was pretty intense, by the way. All of us working together like that, building that custom torp. One false move and BAM! But we did it. We did it good. And the lattice was destroyed. As beautiful as it was, it was equally deadly. I mean, hell, we blew up a STAR to destroy it. Could you imagine if we'd let that thing go and not done anything? I can. I don't want to think about it anymore.

"I guess it was worth missing out on the party. I still wanted to show my support for the Kai, but it seems like he did well enough at the debates. It definitely makes me proud to be Bajoran."

That last statement is emphasized by the look on her face and the bright smile she wears. She takes a deep breath and gives a small nod before continuing.

"And to top it all off, I won a little at this poker game. I think it was more fun actually playing and getting to learn it than winning. That was just the bonus. Everyone was a pretty good sport about it, but no one seemed to stick around long! I hope I didn't scare them away!" she laughs softly, then gives a shrug.

"The last week has definitely been one big win.

"Computer, end log."
