Campaign Speech

The image of Governor Trent L'vralus fades into view. "My fellow citizens," he addresses in a pleasant and calm bass-baritone voice, "It is a tremendous honor to be able to address you all."

The view shifts to a desolate looking planet with an Alamo-class station in the distant horizon. "Several years ago, I was asked to study the plague on Beerax IX that kept all life from returning there. With an amazing team of my fellow citizens and Starfleet officers, we were able to cure the plague."

The view shifts again, this time to what appears to be the same viewing angle, given the station placement, but the planet now looks verdant, the clouds are colored like rich ivory, and the waters reflect back the color of clean Class-M atmosphere. The planet's orbit has a number of trading vessels. "And with your confidence placed in me as Governor of the reformed Beerax IX colony, we have together transformed Beerax into the jewel of its sector. It is my belief that together, we can bring this success to the whole Galaxy Alliance."

The image shifts back to that of the Governor. "The key to success is an attention to detail, being a keen observer. I come from a people of watchers and listeners. I observe everything carefully, and you will ALWAYS have my ear for your concerns."

"In recent messages to you, several other candidates have raised a number of important issues, especially the threats to our economy and our relations with our neighbors. Whether it be hawkish minority factions of our friends trying to drive them to become our enemies or spy on us, or whether it be fleets of pirates attacking our traders, we must make a stand and defend ourselves in every arena, whether that be space or diplomacy. It is time to revitalize our diplomatic corps and our defensive patrols and let everyone know that the Galaxy Alliance is made up of fair and just peoples, but peoples that will not be bullied."

"Lastly, let us not forget our most imminent threat, the Borg. Let's call them what they really are, though--a disease. They are a plague on this galaxy, and we must eradicate them much as we have in the past with other epidemics. We must dramatically ramp up our defense deployments, but we must also elevate our research efforts in both Starfleet and the civilian sector. The basic threat of the Borg is not their considerable strength, but their ability to adapt. It is therefore imperative that we have strong science programs. Only then can we tackle this plague with containment and an evendual eradication."

"The ultimate threat of the Borg, though, is the same that we were presented in the civil war, the loss of our individuality. This is our greatest asset. It is what always makes us triumphant against all enemies. Whether you cast your vote for myself or for one of my worthy opponents such as the Kai, please exercise your right as a Galaxy Alliance Citizen. May the Great Bird of the Galaxy bless your planet!"
