Earlier today, I received orders from the Chief of Starfleet Operations, Vice Admiral Lathrop-Xanathos. Our next patrol circuit is to include the former planetary system of Delcamaria, where the actions of a Starfleet crew destroyed the star system in order to deal a crippling blow to the Borg. This has been assigned to us because the Shutsugun, as a vessel outfitted for exploration, is better able to investigate the repercussions that the destruction of the star system might have caused on the surrounding area. Our patrol will include all neighboring systems up to the Neutral Zone border.
Though I anticipate a quiet mission, I am also wary of pirate activity in this vicinity. Never-the-less, I think the change of pace will be good for the crew, many of whom are not accustomed to working a standard patrol circuit.
