After a brief layover at Starbase 427 in the Qo'noS System, USS Shutsugun continued to the previous location of the Delcamari System. The system was annihilated by the USS Astraeus in her efforts to destroy the Borg. We are here at the behest of the Chief of Starfleet Operations, Admiral Lathrop, who has ordered us to investigate the bredth of the destructive force as well as the potential ramifications in surrounding sectors and systems.
I have ordered sciences, engineering, and operations to work closely together so that our survey can begin as soon as possible. I hope for our analysis to begin immediately following the completion of repairs from an encounter with a black hole while en route to this area.
It is my further hope that this survey mission will also provide the first officer and myself some time to complete a series of personnel reviews that are awaiting disposition.
