Aboard Deep Space 9, I was off-duty at Morn's when the station had come to Red Alert. I immediately went to Operations, where I found Commander Richter, Leftenant Elric, and a ranking diplomat of whom I was not familiar. The diplomat left, while the Leftenant and Commander busily were taking care of something... I am not certain of the details and will leave it to them to provide details in their report. I quickly went to my station at Science where I performed scans of the area.
Initial scans showed the Grace Hopper at a stationary position 7.498 km from station, and Entropy turning about. The Entropy then went into warp and, soon therafter, Commander Richter was transported off, and then back onto the station. I performed a higher definition scan of the local area and found a certain thin-ness associated with the localized area of subspace, although I could not get a reading how far this thin-ness extended. Scans also showed a latent low level amount of tachyon debris from previous tri-cobalt device explosions. Leftenant Elric proposed a working theory that perhaps the soliton-based drive systems of ships in the area may have emitted solitons, which then interacted with the tachyons to create small distortions in space-time. At this point, Commander Reed-Maguire, Captain Starr, and Science Officer Redag also entered the Operations center.
Per Commander Reed-Maguire's orders, I hailed the Entropy, initiating viewscreen conversations. After an attempt to discern the events of the day, Commander Reed-Maguire further ordered that I send an information packet with my findings thus far to Leftenant Saval of the Entropy. Soon therafter, I had received his analysis in return, but, after a moment's confusion, realized that Leftenant Saval had not yet sent a packet. Due to a small temporal distortion, the Entropy was found to exist 15 minutes in the future, or conversely, Deep Space 9 exists 15 minutes in the past. While I am knowledgable in temporal mechanics, spacetime field theory is not one of my specialties, and I requested that Ensign Redag continue in the investigation. I haded over the console to Ensign Redag and his support, and relieved myself of duty to complete my investigation, comparing the Entropy and DS9 data.
From my preliminary findings, the combination of tri-cobalt devices and random weapons fire along with the continued use of soliton-drive engines has caused a thinning of space-time in the area localized to Deep Space 9, confirmed by the data results delivered (will be delivered?) by the Entropy. At this time, the range of this anomaly cannot be determined, nor can its effect be adaquately measured given the proximity of the subspace anomoly known as the "Celestial Temple." I look to collaborate with Ensign Redag's findings to discern the origin and effects of this anomaly.
